I bought this because I have been failed by a heating pad purchased from wal mart. I think it was a Sun beam or similar. As far as a heating pad goes, this does get hot. I usually have it set to 60. It gets hotter (up to 70), but 60 is as much as I can handle. I actually just turned it down to 56. So, yes...it does work. Not sure about the other claims on gemstones or whatever but at least it heats up. The power cord is short, but I don't mind. Did I mention that this heating pad actually gets hot?
back in October I started having muscle spasms, and this type of pad was suggested by my Chiropractor. Some folks find it uncomfortable, but I find if a lay a face towel over it, I comfortably sleep on it all night, every night since I received it.
I've had this heating pad for around six months now and it is very good quality in my opinion.
The wire is very well made and isn't going to tear on you anytime soon.

I bought it for chronic tmj related pain so I mostly stuff it in my pillow case and rest my face on it when needed.
It didn't cure me of my issues but I didn't really expect that.
It definitely does help though and the heating pad does get very hot which was a concern of mine when purchasing.
I was worried it wouldn't be hot enough because ive tried heating pads that others have stated were hot but I found them Luke warm honestly.
It gets very hot in my opinion, so much so that the stones or circles are too hot without a pillow case over top and will burn me.
Also if you have any sort of pain that would require wrapping it around your leg or whatever I wouldn't get this one.
It's very firm and high quality.
Very good for back pack or face pain.
I also do notice a bit of a difference between infrared and normal heat.
It seems to calm bad flares ups down and give me resets throughout the day when needed where is a normal hearing pad just masks it while the heat is applied.
It definitely does provide me with a small amount of lasting relief in certain situations and provide me with more comfort then a standard heating pad.
Sorry for the long reviewing your reading this but for me the heating pad was worth the money.
I have bought 3 UTK pads in the past 5 years. I had problems with the controller on each one plus 2 other controllers I tried to replace them with. This pad is lighter weight, a bit bigger and will heat up to 8 hours. I spend a lot of time on these because the far infrared heat works wonders on my degenerative disc's. I like this one much better than the others and the price is about 1/2 the UTK price.
The only thing I don't like about it, is the fact that it's not long enough to go from my neck to past my butt. Overall I like how it heats up quickly and you can lay on it for up to 8 hours. It has a timer for 2, 4 and 8 hours. I usually lay on this when I get home from work and my pain is released in my back. I get muscle spams bad and this has so far helped with that. I am very pleased 😀
